We have recently set a book club focused on books around play in adulthood from different disciplinary perspectives. We meet once every two months in Manchester to discuss the current book, and thoughts around play and games in general. Sometimes we might even have a cheeky pint afterwards.
Several people I’ve mentioned Book Club to have said that they would be interested but unable to attend in person, so I’m going to share the books here, so that anyone can participate and comment at a distance. The two books we have read so far are:
The Grasshopper by Bernard Suits
Finite and Infinite Games by James P. Carse
There are only two rules of book club.
- You do not have to read the book, but if you don’t you must pretend that you have and see if anyone catches you out.
- You can talk about book club, but don’t do it too much otherwise people might judge you and give you funny looks.
If you would like to attend in person, or have any suggestions for future books, please get in touch. I’ll post the next book and meeting date as soon as they are agreed.
